what is mlm?
“MLM” stands for “Multi-level marketing”. It is a marketing strategy in which the sales force is
compensated not only for sales they generate, but also for the sales of the
other salespeople that they recruit. This recruited sales force is referred to
as the participant's "downline", and can provide multiple levels of
compensation. Other terms used
for MLM include pyramid selling, network marketing, and referral marketing. Many pyramid
schemes attempt to
present themselves as legitimate MLM businesses.
“MLM” can also be described as a strategy that some direct sales companies use to
encourage and inspire their existing distributors to recruit new distributors
by paying the existing distributors a percentage of their recruits' sales; the
recruits are known as a distributor's "downline." All distributors
also make money through direct sales of products to customers.
